Erin Corrian-Alexis is a 22 year old artist from London. Erin paints with acrylics and oils, often together, focusing particularly on skin textures and the colours that lie beneath. Erin uses her love of painting to tell stories that she leaves open to interpretation.
For Unmasked Women, Erin explores the everyday. There is no profile that can be given to mental health issues, no set of rules that apply.
Erin explores the fine line between the vulnerability and strength of the Black British women around her. The paintings produced for this exhibition aim to highlight the normal-ness in appearance of mental health issues and in turn cause people to think about how close to home these problems can be. The simple stresses of life; work, relationships, our duties as mothers, daughters and examples are those that weigh the most.
